January 1, Civil War Erupts Within the GOP

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1776: American Revolution – British troops capture Fort Washington.

An underwhelming performance in the recent midterm elections has caused a civil war to erupt in the Republican Party at nearly every level, according to Axios.

Members of the GOP are lashing out at each other, revealing a distinct divide that extends beyond the usual policy disagreements.

Last week, former President Donald Trump unloaded on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), calling him “Ron DeSanctimonious.” Meanwhile, conservative media outlets — including Fox News and the New York Post — declared that DeSantis is the GOP’s best hope in the 2024 presidential election.

Brendan Buck, a former aide to House Speaker Paul Ryan and John Boehner, tweeted: “Let’s suppose for a second there is a real challenge to Trump for the ‘24 nomination. And let’s suppose someone actually does beat him in that primary. What then are the chances Trump wouldn’t entirely sabotage that person in the general election?”

At the Senate level, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and campaign chief Rick Scott (R-FL) publicly blamed each other for the midterm situation.

Josh Holmes, McConnell’s former chief of staff, told the Wall Street Journal that the National Republican Senate Committee (NRSC) “was run basically as a Rick Scott super PAC, where they didn’t want or need to input any Republican senators whatsoever.”

Scott adviser Curt Anderson retorted by saying that “insecure small people never accept responsibility for failure.”

Scott and Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Marco Rubio (R-FL) have all called for the GOP leadership elections to be postponed.

“The old party is dead. Time to bury it. Build something new,” Hawley tweeted.

Meanwhile, the House Freedom Caucus members are planning to challenge GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) bid for House speaker nomination.

But Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) criticized the efforts to challenge McCarthy, saying that doing so is “risky” and a “bad strategy.”

The rift also extends to the Republican National Committee (RNC), where Ronna McDaniel is seeking re-election. She faces a new potential challenger in Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.).

If we really want the White House in 2024, the alleged party leaders need to rent a conference room and stay in there until ALL differences are resolved

Get rid of Trump! He is an egotistical idiot, and way to divisive. He thinks he more like a king. We need Disantis to run, with a female running mate, like Nickie Haley. We need winners!!

He may be egotistical, but he had our country safe and secure….and opened our eyes to the oligarchs who actually fight against America being strong. Just imagine what he could have accomplished if he hadn’t had to fight impeachment and negative reports from our biased and unethical major news media at every turn.

First comment that had any actual truth in it. Thank you Vicky for showing brains behind a thought. It’s too bad more people don’t have enough personal brain power to actually think for America instead of themselves alone. GOD bless and help America and the true Americans.

Thanks Greg and Vickie for your comments, very thoughtful. Joel Jackobson is the only egotistical idiot, he is so blind that he cant even see his hand in front of his face.

Very thoughtful comments and I have been a major Trump supporter and we need to stop all of the liberal BS. I believe a Disantis/Haley ticket would be great!

Diplomacy is a great thing at foreign dinners. Soft speaking to the uneducated is a nice thing as well.
Non of this accomplishes anything. This country is a BUISNESS! What you want is a business professional running your company which is what the United States is. That is why he delivered under the most impossible of circumstances. This just scares most people because they do not understand how to run a business. Notice the people who want Trump Vs those who do not. Most are business owners of some sort who understands what he does in office. If you do not agree. Go watch the VIEW were you will feel comfy.

I have voted GOP all my life. But i am seeing is nothing more than power grabs an RINOS in the party. If the GOP can’t get their act together for the good of the people and this country. then their needs to be a brand new party shake up. As far as McConnell he is a traiter to the party and america. He needs to be removed right away and put in someone who is a staunch defender of the GOP and it’s principles and america citizens. If they cant mount a credible challenge to the stealing of elections by the DEM/Communists then i wont be voting any more. And they better go after Bide and his family for corruption and make it stick. They need to impeach Merritt Garland. And go after theDOJ and the FBI for corruption to.

Ron DeSantis has his hands full in Florida & just got re-elected. Why should he quit early? DeSantis is younger than T45, why should he usurp a highly popular President? DeSantis has lots of time to run later, Trump earned his right to try again. Trump did great stuff in the WhiteHouse, he just didn’t clean house enough.
Nikki Haley quickly *turned* on Trump after leaving her T45 sponsored post at the UN. She proved disloyal like Mike Pence who has also cancelled his political career.
Trump should consider Marjory Taylor-Greene or Lauren Bobert.
