January 1, China Puts Down Roots in American Heartland
Wyatt’s Take
- China uses its power to influence daily American life.
- U.S. states are fighting back against China’s silent invasion.
- Everyday folks can help close the gaps in our national defense.
Chairman Xi Jinping recently outlined his vision from Tiananmen Square, calling the world to choose between “peace and war, dialogue and confrontation.” Dressed like Mao, he made clear which side he’s on—waging a shadow war on American soil.
Through his United Front strategy, the Chinese Communist Party tries to shape what Americans think and do. Real danger hides in plain sight, with China investing in everything from farmland and food companies to schools and even medicines.
“China has implanted itself in almost all industries that touch everyday life in this country.”
Smithfield Foods—America’s biggest pork producer—is now Chinese-owned. China’s got its hands on hundreds of thousands of acres of U.S. farmland and sneaks into public pension funds through shady investments. College students see their free speech threatened by Chinese student groups, while even grade schools get targeted with CCP-funded programs.
But the most personal attack is TikTok. The CCP uses that app to spread dangerous trends to our kids, teaching them how to steal or destroy property and fill their feeds with harmful content.
Polls show working people know what’s at stake. Most who supported President Trump in 2024 want to stop the CCP from buying American land and boot Chinese holdings out of retirement funds. Parents and young folks get it too—nearly everyone is worried about TikTok’s Chinese influence.
The president has responded. The National Farm Security Action Plan takes on China’s grip on food. New visa restrictions and pressure on drugmakers aim to weaken Chinese control. But handling the CCP’s threat takes all hands, not just Washington.
State-level action is making a difference. Indiana moved to pull its pension funds out of Chinese companies. Comptroller Elise Nieshalla helped push for tighter rules on Chinese investments. Nebraska slammed the door on foreigners buying up farmland, while Arkansas forced foreign lobbyists to show themselves. Almost forty states have banned TikTok on government devices.
“A world led by China will mean they control the food Americans eat and the life-saving medicines they rely on.”
It’s up to states and every voter to keep pressure on leaders. When folks stand up, new laws protect land, pensions, and schools.
Wyatt Matters
Protecting what’s ours means everyday Americans get involved—speaking up and staying alert to foreign influence in their communities. If we value our land, families, and children, we can’t let outsiders pull the strings behind closed doors.
