January 1, CBS Busts Talarico as Texas Voting Begins

Texas Democrat Senate hopeful James Talarico told folks his interview with Stephen Colbert was blocked by President Trump’s FCC.

He said

“Trump is worried we’re about to flip Texas.”

Early voting for the Texas primaries just started.

The left pushed the idea that Trump and the FCC pressured CBS, even saying financial threats played a part.

These claims quickly spread online.

But here’s what really happened.

CBS didn’t ban the interview.

They put it online to get around the FCC’s equal-time rule, which would have meant rival Jasmine Crockett deserved time on air, too.

“THE LATE SHOW was not prohibited by CBS from broadcasting the interview with Rep. James Talarico. The show was provided legal guidance that the broadcast could trigger the FCC equal-time rule for two other candidates, including Rep. Jasmine Crockett, and…”

If they wanted, CBS could have given Crockett that airtime.

Instead, they moved the interview off TV rather than split time with both candidates.

Now, Talarico and Crockett are fighting it out in the Texas Democrat primary, which gets decided March 3rd.

Talarico’s campaign got extra buzz from the online circus.
