Wyatt’s Take

  • Elite voices try to downplay our shared American roots.
  • Founders built America on unity in faith and tradition, not random diversity.
  • Our nation’s strength comes from inherited values and sacrifices.

Some in the media want us to believe America isn’t about people with shared history or values. They say America is just a patchwork held together by laws, not by blood or memory.

One columnist claims our founders came from all sorts of backgrounds, as if that makes America a diversity experiment. But those colonists shared Christian faith, language, and purpose. That’s a real bond, not just paperwork.

This same columnist tries to flatten out American heritage, putting Korean, Mexican, and Somali roots on the same level as those of English and Scottish settlers. The message: America would be the same no matter who built it. That’s just not true.

A strong nation comes from shared lineage and tradition. The people who settled this land and built its foundations gave us more than laws; they gave us identity.

As Daniel Webster said, “We are among the sepulchers of our fathers. We are on ground distinguished by their valor, their constancy, and the shedding of their blood.”

Lincoln reminded us we are “legal inheritors” of liberty and that our task is “to transmit these… unprofaned by the foot of an invader.”

He spoke of the “mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearthstone, all over this broad land.”

This nation isn’t just a mix of strangers—it’s people bound by love of country, shared memories, and faith in freedom. That comes partly from the line that stretches back to the founding.

Of course, new Americans can join in. But that doesn’t erase the debt and honor owed to those who came first and fought to secure liberty.

Some want a rootless America, open to any interpretation. But without the Americans who built it, America cannot survive.

Stand proud of your heritage—Middle America keeps this country strong when elites forget what matters most.

Wyatt Matters

America’s greatness stands on the sacrifices of those who built it, and we must guard our shared traditions if we want to protect our future.
