Wyatt’s Take

  • Father admits to killing infant son
  • Both parents now face murder charges
  • Community shaken by case of alleged abuse

The father of a 7-month-old baby in California confessed to killing his son and hiding his body, according to investigators. He revealed the details to an undercover informant in jail and later gave similar information to law enforcement.

Jake Haro claimed he might have accidentally suffocated his son, Emmanuel, by rolling over him during sleep, but later admitted to hiding the body and possibly burying it. His wife, Rebecca, initially reported the child had been kidnapped near a sporting goods store.

After the alleged kidnapping, both parents stopped working with authorities. During a police search along the 60 Freeway, Jake Haro refused to help look for his son’s remains.

Prosecutors charged the parents with murder and filing a false police report. The district attorney in Riverside County took over the case, saying the crime happened in their area. Earlier investigations had also linked the Haros to child abuse complaints.

Jake Haro previously pleaded guilty to child cruelty charges back in 2018. The couple’s arraignment is scheduled for September 4th.
