January 1, Biden Tells ‘Creepy’ Story About Nurse Who Would Breathe on Him [Video]

President Joe Biden recently recalled his experience being hospitalized in 1988 for brain aneurysms — an anecdote that viewers characterized as “creepy.”

During a healthcare event in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Tuesday, Biden praised nurses and said “if there’s any angels in heaven, they’re all nurses, male and female.”

“When I was at Walter Reed all that time, after a couple of craniotomies, I was lying there. And I had a nurse named Pearl Nelson, military,” he said. “She’d come in and do things that I don’t think you learn in nursing school. She’d whisper in my ear. I couldn’t understand her, but she’d whisper, and she’d lean down.  She’d actually breathe on me to make sure there was a connection, a human connection.”

“She even went home and brought back her pillow from her own bed,” he continued, because she “knew the one I had wasn’t comfortable.”

It’s not the first time Biden’s told this story.

“I had nurses at Walter Reed hospital who would bend down and whisper in my ear, go home and get me pillows. They would … actually breathe in my nostrils to make me move, to get me moving,” he said in July 2020.
