The United States Navy stands accused of systematically undervaluing private ranch land in Nevada as part of a controversial expansion of military training grounds. The land grab centers on a planned expansion of Naval Air Station Fallon’s training range. Federal officials claim they need the additional acreage for national security purposes. But ranchers say the government’s appraisal process is rigged from the start, designed to minimize taxpayer cost while destroying livelihoods.
