January 1, ‘Dead’ Woman Wakes Up in Coffin at Her Own Funeral!

In an extraordinary turn of events, a woman in Ecuador was found alive in her coffin during her own funeral. Bella Montoya, aged 76, reportedly woke up during her wake, causing alarm among the mourners gathered in the city of Babahoyo.

The incident occurred on Friday when Montoya’s family and friends noticed her hand hitting the side of the coffin, causing it to shake. Medics were immediately summoned to the scene where they found Montoya still breathing. She was then removed from the casket and placed on a stretcher for further medical attention.

Montoya’s son, Gilbert Balberán, said that the wake took place just four hours after his mother was declared dead. A medical examiner had even provided him with a death certificate, which stated the cause of death as cardiorespiratory arrest.

According to Balberán, his mother suffered from catalepsy following the cardiorespiratory arrest. This condition often results in bodily rigidity, decreased sensitivity to pain, and slower bodily functions such as breathing, potentially leading hospital staff to believe she had died.

Montoya is currently being cared for at the same hospital that had declared her dead and is reportedly in stable condition. Balberán said, “My mother is on oxygen. Her heart is stable. The doctor squeezed her hand, and she reacted. They tell me this is a good sign because it means she is reacting little by little.”

While Balberán described the incident as a “miracle from God,” he admitted he was still trying to process what happened. Meanwhile, Ecuador’s Ministry of Health has launched an investigation into why a death certificate was erroneously issued.

This is not the first such incident. Last year, a three-year-old girl in Mexico was found to be alive at her own funeral, although she sadly passed away later in the hospital.

Thank God that she didn’t come around after being buried. It’s happened before. They could tell by the f frantic scratching on the inside of the coffin lid when and if the body was ever exhumed for some reason. It’s not unusual for speedy internment in third world countries. So too I believe the Hebrew faith doesn’t support embalming. I’m sure she’ll be smelling the roses so to speak and enjoying her second chance at life. 😉

No wonder those people are fleeing South America to come to the US! They have “doctors” with a medical degree from the Univ of Amazonia! (it would have been funny if she recovered just as they were lowering her into the grave. “Get me outta here!” (In Spanish)) “Yo soy Alivo!”
