January 1, Chelsea Handler Slams NFL Player’s Christian Values, Faces Backlash

Left-wing comedienne Chelsea Handler recently faced a backlash on social media for her attack on Kansas City Chiefs player Harrison Butker. Handler branded Butker a “misogynist” and a “Bible thumper” for his support of traditional Christian values, which he expressed in a speech on May 11 at Benedictine College, urging men not to be afraid of their masculinity and women not to forsake marriage and family life for a career.

A week after Butker’s address, Handler posted a video response in which she insulted the player, stating, “First of all, Harrison, you’re a kicker, so you have one important part of your body and it’s not your brain.” She also addressed Butker’s wife, Isabelle, asking her to “blink twice if you need us to call for help.”

However, many social media users took offense to Handler’s comments, arguing that Butker was simply expressing Catholic values to a Catholic audience at a Catholic university. One user wrote, “Just because you didn’t choose to have a family and are growing bitter about the feminist lie… it doesn’t mean that everyone is on board.”

A mother also defended Butker, saying, “As an educated woman with a very successful career in a male-dominated field, being a mother was my most important and valued accomplishment.” Other users criticized Handler for her “miserable” attitude and inability to find humor in her own video.

Despite the backlash, Handler remained unapologetic in her critique of Butker’s views on traditional Christian values.
