Good morning Middle Americans, 

How are we feeling about Kanye 2020. Our first question was – when does his album drop? Our next question was – can 2020 get any wilder? Don’t answer that. Honestly, we report on these stories with a bit of trepidation. We have more than two decades of news experience among the staff here at Middle America News. We want to dismiss these Kanye 2020 stories out of hand. But – when a reality host, and real estate developer can become the leader of the free world, you kinda have to sit up and take notice of everything. That said, it seems like Kanye is having some sort of episode. Watch at your own risk. 

Did you catch President Trump’s interview with Fox News Sunday Host Chris Wallace? Wallace seemed overwhelmed at times, but he tried to hold the presiden to account, but with so much disinformation flying around, it’s hard to know what was going on. That sort of a metaphor for the last three plus years of the Trump presidency. Some good,some bad, if you look at either and squink you can kind of justify any position. As for the interview we have the full transcript so you can do your own fact checking. And we also have an opinion piece that we think does a fair job of dissecting the interview. 

Roger Stone will not go away quietly. The close confidant of the president was on a talk radio show recently and dropped the word “negro”. Now he’s in hot water. 

Finally today we have a story about an anti-black lives matter activist who has defaced the Black Lives Matters Mural in NYC not once, but twice. Plot twist, she’s also black.

(ABC News) – Kanye West kicked off his first presidential campaign event in North Charleston, South Carolina, Sunday evening, a day before the state’s deadline to file signatures as an independent candidate.The rapper appeared shortly after 5 p.m. at the Exquis Event Center rally with the numbers “2020” in his hair.

Opinion: Fox News’ Chris Wallace Finally Gave Americans the Donald Trump Interview they Deserve

(Arizona Republic) – In an interview with Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday,” President Donald Trump told lies, made bizarre accusations and wouldn’t say whether he would accept results of the 2020 election if he lost.

In other words, a typical Trump interview with Fox News — or any other media outlet.

The difference?

Wallace called him out. Repeatedly.

It was the interview we’ve waited nearly four years to see, and it happened on the network that employs some commentators who at times seem to consider getting Trump re-elected part of its mission statement. But Wallace isn’t Sean Hannity or the hosts of “Fox & Friends.” “I like to think I treat everybody the same,” he told Trump at one point.

There is, of course, some question whether it will matter. Trump loyalists are a, well, loyal bunch. But Wallace at least got Trump on the record on a lot of subjects, and he put those answers into a larger picture of Trump’s presidency and its effectiveness.

Often the media are accused of stenography, of just writing down what Trump or others say, or engaging in false equivalencies in attempts to appear unbiased.

Roger Stone Calls Black Radio Host ‘Negro’ In Interview

(AP) – Roger Stone, a political operative whose 40-month prison sentence was commuted this month by President Donald Trump, his longtime friend, called a Los Angeles-based Black radio host a “Negro” on the air during a contentious interview.

The exchange occurred on Saturday’s Mo’Kelly Show, whose host — Morris O’Kelly — grilled Stone on his conviction for lying to Congress, tampering with witnesses and obstructing the House investigation into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.

O’Kelly on his program’s website said “Stone could have reached for any pejorative, but unfortunately went there,” adding that “Stone offered an unfiltered, unvarnished one-sentence expression of how he saw the journalist interviewing him.”

Black Woman Defaces Black Lives Matter Mural Outside Trump Tower: “Re-Fund The Police!”

(Real Clear Politics) – A black woman was arrested Saturday after she defaced the Black Lives Matter mural outside Trump Tower in New York City. The woman was wearing a shirt that said “Jesus Matters” and yelled that the city needs to “refund the police.” She also had a message for the mayor of NYC:

An officer attempting to stop her was injured after he slipped on fresh paint that she used to vandalize the mural.

“You wanna defund the police for black people?” she shouted as officers attempted to take her into custody. “We want our police! Re-fund our police!”

“Y’all don’t care about black lives!” she yelled. “Re-fund the police!”

“They say they care about black lives, they’re saying to defund the police.”

“They don’t care! We killing each other left and right. Black Lives Matter? Liars! Liars! Liars! In the name of Jesus, Jesus Matters. Black Lives Matter don’t matter, Jesus Matters,” she continued.
