January 1, CNN Democrat Sounds Alarm on Radical Wing Hijacking Party

Wyatt’s Take

  • Even longtime CNN liberal Van Jones is finally admitting what conservatives have known for years — the far-left socialist takeover of the Democratic Party is spiraling out of control.
  • Jones called out Democratic Socialists of America for pushing ‘regressive’ positions on Hamas, open borders, and abolishing police that would make America unrecognizable.
  • After socialist-backed candidates swept recent primaries, Jones warned mainstream Democrats are so frustrated they’re overlooking radical proposals that threaten the country’s foundation.

A longtime CNN political commentator and Democrat just broke ranks with his party’s far-left wing in a stunning public rebuke. Van Jones warned Saturday that socialist activists are pushing dangerous positions that threaten to derail the Democratic Party entirely.

Jones didn’t mince words about the Democratic Socialists of America and their recent electoral victories.

“Yes, we want our Democratic Party to be a big tent. But we don’t need ‘party poopers. So STOP pooping in the punch bowl — and telling us the turds are ice cubes,”

Jones posted his criticism on X, directing followers to his full Substack essay. He accused DSA activists of promoting positions on Hamas, policing, prisons and immigration that fall outside even progressive ideals.

The former Obama administration advisor laid out exactly what he considers beyond the pale.

“But some people in groups like the DSA are pushing an agenda FAR outside those ideals. Supporting Hamas is not progressive. ‘No police, no prisons, no borders’ is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is not progressive. These ideas are REGRESSIVE,”

Jones, who describes himself as a progressive Democrat, outlined what he believes his political identity should represent — criminal justice reform, Green New Deal policies, Medicare for All, free education, and clean air and water. He’s fought for these positions his entire adult life, he said.

But he drew a sharp line between traditional progressive policies and the radical agenda gaining ground in Democratic primaries.

Jones also rejected the common defense that far-left activists simply want Nordic-style social democracy.

“Some defend the far left by claiming they only want Nordic-style social democracy. If that were true, I might applaud them. I want those policies, too! But what does universal healthcare have to do with Hamas? With abolishing all law enforcement? With erasing all borders? With treating every wealthy person as a villain? Ideas matter. And these are terrible ideas.”

The DSA’s recently released Workers Deserve More program lays bare exactly what Jones is warning about. The platform calls for shifting police funding to public services as a step toward completely abolishing police and prisons.

On immigration, the socialist agenda advocates abolishing ICE, ending all immigration detention and deportations, legalizing migration entirely, and granting blanket amnesty to immigrants regardless of legal status. On foreign policy, the DSA demands ending all U.S. military and economic assistance to Israel and establishing a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Jones’ criticism comes as socialist-backed candidates rack up shocking primary victories across the country. Democratic socialist Melat Kiros just defeated 15-term Rep. Diana DeGette in Colorado’s Democratic primary.

In New York, DSA-backed candidates Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier won congressional primaries, while several other organization-endorsed candidates captured state legislative nominations. Jones acknowledged the movement’s electoral momentum in an earlier Substack post.

“The Democratic Socialists of America are winning elections — and sending waves of joy and terror through the Democratic Party. A little historical context might be useful,”

But Jones warned Saturday that mainstream Democrats frustrated with both Republicans and their own party’s establishment might be too distracted to notice what’s happening.

“Right now, extremists are trying to sneak backwards proposals into our party, hoping mainstream Democrats are too frustrated with MAGA and the Democratic Party establishment to notice. But we see you,”

Wyatt Matters

When even CNN liberals start sounding the alarm about their own party’s radical wing, working Americans should pay attention. The socialist takeover isn’t coming — it’s already here, winning primaries and pushing an agenda that would fundamentally transform America. Open borders, no police, no prisons, and siding with Hamas over Israel aren’t fringe positions anymore in the Democratic Party. They’re becoming the mainstream, and that should terrify every American who values law, order, and national sovereignty.

I don’t agree on almost anything Van Jones has ever said before, but I will now give him a little credit for having the spine to call out the far left in his party for having insane ideas. He said because he is older, he knows that these ideas are insane, the problem is these far leftists are little children who have been indoctrinated by woke schools and have never had real jobs, so they don’t get it.

I can only hope that more moderate Democrats caught his substack and will have the guts to also start speaking out about against the insance far left within their party.
