January 1, Dems Blamed for Fueling Anti-ICE Violence Spiral
Wyatt’s Take
- A deadly shooting happened after an ICE agent was attacked in Minneapolis.
- Scott Jennings says harsh words from Democrats against ICE have sparked more violence.
- Political leaders are growing more aggressive in their language toward law enforcement.
A Minneapolis ICE agent shot Renee Nicole Good after she allegedly got in the way during an operation. Democrats in Minnesota voiced anger over the incident, but Scott Jennings says their strong words against ICE have played a role in rising violence like this.
Jennings said
“It strikes me that we are undergoing an epidemic of political vigilantism right now.”
“Why are people showing up in vehicles, in convoys, not just in Minneapolis, but all over the country in an effort to obstruct lawful, federal law enforcement activities?”
“This is not an isolated incident.”
“We have had hundreds of car rammings against ICE agents all over the country.”
“According to DHS, this lady in this car today, along with other vehicles, have been tracking ICE agents around.”
“Why are people believing that they can drive their car into a federal law enforcement situation and that is an appropriate thing to do?”
He argued that Democratic officials, like Minnesota’s lieutenant governor Peggy Flanagan and Governor Tim Walz, have amped up anti-ICE talk. Jennings pointed out how comments about “putting your bodies on the line” and calling ICE “gestapo” are turning ordinary people into radicals.
Governor Walz also said Minnesota is in a fight with the federal government, and Mayor Jacob Frey told ICE agents to leave the city and blamed the Trump administration for creating disorder. Many Democrats running for office have picked up the “Abolish ICE” message, while leaders like Boston’s mayor made harsh comparisons to hate groups.
Government numbers show there have been 99 attacks using vehicles on federal officers this year, up sharply from last year. Attacks against ICE agents are up by over a thousand percent.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the ICE agent involved had already been rammed by a car in June during an anti-ICE riot.
When leaders demonize law enforcement, it sends the wrong message to regular people. We need to value the rule of law and expect better from those in power.
Wyatt Matters
When political leaders stir folks up against law enforcement, our communities pay the price. Respecting those who protect us is a middle America value—turning against them just puts us all in danger.
