Wyatt’s Take

  • Crockett’s Senate run draws criticism for her left-wing record.
  • Texas lawmakers and celebrities push back against her stance on police and the border.
  • Many Texans doubt her viral social media style will win votes.

Texans from the political world to Hollywood are pushing back against Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett as she launches her U.S. Senate run.

Crockett, known for her sharp words online and in Congress, began her campaign saying she’s fighting against Donald Trump where Republican Sen. John Cornyn won’t.

“I’m done watching the American dream on life support while Trump tries to pull the plug. The gloves have been off, and now I’m jumping into the ring,” she said.

Republican Rep. Brandon Gill slammed her record, pointing to her support for defunding police and weak border policies.

“Texans want somebody representing them who’s gonna stand for law and order, and that is certainly not Jasmine Crockett,” Gill said.

“If Texans support one thing, it’s law and order. And listen, this is probably the most pro-criminal candidate Democrats could have possibly found.”

Gill also recalled Crockett saying that crossing the border illegally “is not a crime” and claiming someone isn’t a criminal just for committing a crime.

He said she doesn’t understand Texas voters, noting Trump won the state by 14 points.

“She’s saying she doesn’t need Trump voters for her to win this. Yes, she does,” he said.

Actor Zachary Levi joined the criticism.

“I live in Texas, I love Texas, I really don’t want her representing Texas.”

Levi took issue with her constant online activity.

“I think that a lot of people are digging themselves in some pretty big holes because they think they’re taking advantage of social media, and yet they’re coming out with this really bizarre stuff,” Levi said.

“And I think that a lot of people that might otherwise support her are cringing because of that.”

He warned her TikTok antics might not help her cause, saying politicians should be focused on serving people, not chasing viral fame.

As the Senate race begins, support for traditional Texas values and tough policies on law and order appear to be center stage.

Many believe Crockett has a steep hill to climb if she wants to win over hard-working Texans.

Wyatt Matters

For folks in Middle America, strong borders and safe neighborhoods matter more than viral fame. Texans want a leader who puts their communities first, not Hollywood trends.

How about a flicker light – sporadic on and off? Or even a motion detector light. If it detects no motion (like brain activity), it remains off.
