The judge in former FBI Director James Comey’s court case is not happy with how the Justice Department handled things. He pointed out serious mistakes in how the grand jury process was handled and questioned if the process was fair.

“[T]he record points to a disturbing pattern of profound investigative missteps, missteps that led an FBI agent and a prosecutor to potentially undermine the integrity of the grand jury proceeding,” wrote Magistrate Judge William Fitzpatrick.

Comey was charged in September with obstruction of justice and making a false statement to Congress. He says he is not guilty and is fighting the charges. The charges are being brought by U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan, who took over after Erik Sibert resigned.
