President Trump is raising tariffs on Canada by another 10% after an ad from Ontario misused Ronald Reagan’s footage. The ad was called out for being deceptive by the Reagan Foundation.

The Reagan Foundation said, “Canada had ‘created an ad campaign using selective audio and video of President Ronald Reagan’… ‘misrepresents the Presidential Radio Address.’”

Trump said the “fraud” was meant to sway U.S. courts on tariffs. He insisted, “Ronald Reagan LOVED Tariffs for purposes of National Security and the Economy, but Canada said he didn’t!”

Trade talks have now stopped. Trump wrote, “ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA ARE HEREBY TERMINATED.” He called tariffs key to “the national security and economy of the U.S.A.”

Canada’s prime minister had eased some tariffs recently, but it did not fix the situation. Efforts to get a new deal at the APEC summit have now hit a wall.

Trump ended his statement confirming the penalty, saying Canada’s missteps forced this response.
