Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump’s National Guard plan angers the Left, but speaks to voters tired of crime.
  • Democratic cities like Chicago and Baltimore suffer most, while their leaders do little.
  • Most Americans want real safety, not empty talk from politicians.

Donald Trump’s idea to use the National Guard in violent cities has sparked familiar anger from the Left. Critics call it “authoritarian,” but ordinary people living with daily crime deserve real solutions, not more excuses.

Federal help in out-of-control cities is nothing new. For years, Democratic mayors have failed the working class, letting crime spread while claiming to stand with the people most affected.

Chicago saw nearly 600 homicides in 2024, making it the country’s homicide capital again. Baltimore, plagued by violence for decades, remains far above the national average for crime.

“The federal government must step in…when local governance breaks down so catastrophically,” says the Constitution, and laws like the Insurrection Act allow presidents to act when cities hit rock bottom.

Democratic leaders shout “fascism,” but ignore why families must raise kids where gunfire is common. Most folks living in these neighborhoods want more police, not less.

Poll after poll shows public support for tougher law enforcement and little patience for soft-on-crime policies. Voters rank safety as a top concern, even while left-wing politicians seem more worried about their image than what’s happening in their cities.

This isn’t new: When Trump took action in Portland, critics yelled, but many citizens welcomed order over chaos. The same goes for border security and protecting American symbols; Democrats reflexively oppose Trump and wind up defending unpopular positions.

Trump knows these are winning issues. He goes straight at the problems, while his opponents tie themselves in knots defending the indefensible. History and the public are on his side.

The folks who stand to benefit most aren’t the politicians, but regular people in cities like Chicago and Baltimore who just want to live without fear.
