January 1, Special Prosecutor Named in Schiff, James Fraud Probe
Wyatt’s Take
- A special prosecutor is now leading the investigation of Sen. Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James for mortgage fraud.
- Serious charges like bank and wire fraud could mean decades in prison if proven true, and the accused deny all wrongdoing.
- Middle America knows justice should apply to all, no matter how powerful.
The Justice Department has upped the ante, naming a special prosecutor to dig into allegations of mortgage, bank, and wire fraud involving two major public figures—Senator Adam Schiff of California and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Former acting U.S. Attorney Ed Martin has been tapped for the job, promising to see the mission through.
“Attorney General Bondi and President Trump have given me a very serious and mission,” Martin said.
Reports claim that Adam Schiff is under scrutiny for apparently declaring his Maryland house as his main home to score better mortgage rates from 2009 to 2020. Former President Trump brought up these allegations, claiming they “rip off America.”
Schiff’s former campaign defended the senator, saying both homes were listed to show they weren’t vacation properties, not to mislead lenders.
Letitia James faces similar accusations. A federal official alleges she declared a Virginia property as her main residence while she was working in New York, supposedly falsifying records to get a loan. This came out just before her heavily criticized trial against the Trump Organization.
James, like Schiff, insists there’s nothing illegal in her actions.
The same day these advances surfaced, news broke that the Department of Justice has started a grand jury investigation into James’s office for her legal moves against Trump before the 2024 election.
Time will tell if Washington’s elite play by the same rules as everyone else.
