January 1, Pentagon: Suspected Chinese Spy Balloon Found in US
ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1789: The 1st U.S. electoral college chooses George Washington as President and John Adams as Vice President.
The Pentagon confirmed that the U.S. military has been keeping track of a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon that has recently been spotted flying over the northern part of the country.
“The United States government has detected and is tracking a high-altitude surveillance balloon that is over the continental United States right now,” Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said in a statement. “We continue to track and monitor it closely.”
“Once the balloon was detected, the U.S. government acted immediately to protect against the collection of sensitive information,” Ryder said.
On Wednesday, the balloon was spotted over Billings, Montana, on Wednesday. It had flown over Alaska’s Aleutian Islands and through Canada before moving into Montana. A senior defense official confirmed to NBC News on Friday that the balloon is still over the U.S. but declined to specify where.
Top military officials reviewed the balloon’s threat profile and the various options of response. Ultimately, the decision was made not to shoot it down.
When asked about the decision not to shoot it down, Ryder said that based on their assessment and consideration of the “potential for debris and property damage,” the U.S. decided it didn’t pose that risk if allowed to continue flying.
China claims it’s a weather balloon that blew off-course, but the Pentagon disagrees
On Friday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that the balloon was a weather balloon that had “deviated far from its planned course.”
“The airship is from China. It is a civilian airship used for research, mainly meteorological, purposes,” a spokesperson said. “The Chinese side regrets the unintended entry of the airship into U.S. airspace due to force majeure. The Chinese side will continue communicating with the U.S. side and properly handle this unexpected situation caused by force majeure.”
The Pentagon, however, pushed back against this claim, saying that the U.S. is confident that the balloon is for surveillance. Ryder said the balloon, which has the ability to maneuver, continues to move eastward at an altitude of about 60,000 feet.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken postpones his trip to China
Secretary of State Antony Blinken was supposed to leave for a trip to China on Friday evening, but he decided to postpone the trip due to the discovery of the Chinese spy balloon.
“We understand from two US officials that this trip to China by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has been postponed. Obviously this comes amid this revelation of this really audacious sending of this Chinese spy balloon across the border into the United States,” CNN Senior National Security Correspondent Alex Marquardt said.
According to NBC, a senior State Department official said: “After consultations with our interagency partners, as well as with Congress, we have concluded that the conditions are not right at this moment for Secretary Blinken to travel to China.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman speculates that the balloon could contain ‘bioweapons’
House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) raised concerns over the federal government’s lack of knowledge regarding what’s inside the balloon.
“My concern is that the federal government obviously doesn’t know what’s in that balloon. Is that bioweapons, weapons in that balloon? Did that balloon take off from Wuhan? We don’t know anything about that balloon,” Comer said Friday during an appearance on Fox News.

Shoot it down as soon as over a large body of water.
Call the Ambassador of China in and tell him we consider this an invasion
of our airspace and an act of war. Then tell him his has 24 hours to leave the country.
Then we should seize all the land China has purchased in this country.

It amazes me that this man continues to ignore the simple most important subject when it comes to pressers. No one wants to know Joey what the economy is doing when you have a spy satellite scanning the entire central part of our country, un abetted. Most people know that when you took office you have stated several times you took over a bad economy. When you took office the inflation rate was 1.4% and it is currently 6.5% excuse me for applying simple math but let take the time to remove my shoes and socks. Fuzzy math is one thing, spy satellites are another. It is likely with our technology that we have known about this balloon since Jan 28th, and we just were told about it on Feb 2nd by private citizens, not the military. So, who is protecting us while we freely allow this balloon to fly over and around our military bases? Comrade Joey

You can throw in the Pentagon too since they’re part and parcel of the current criminal organization with their “we’re monitoring” the criminal activities when their oath says “to protect and defend”. Just political trash being the trash they are who needs thrown under the bus.

biden could be impeached but that won’t solve the problem. Any dem in his place will do exactly the same. this is a communist what socialism is agenda and people need to understand communism much better to understand why they do things as they do. Remember Otto Warmbler who went to NKorea a twenty plus year old that just graduated college. Dumb idea. they accused him of stealing a banner and put him in prison a sentence of fifteen years. for probably a paper banner. However, Even though President Trump got him teturned, the prison guards got a little carried away and beat him truly senseless. He arrived home and died a few days later. I suspect they took him off life support. This is communism at its finest.

This is a Trojan Horse and a test to find out how we respond to it. We failed and our “leaders” don’t even realize it!

He did something, she went to the Beach House for the weekend. As for China saying this was a weather balloon blown off course. Why would a weather balloon need info on other countries weather. Joe needs to be back in DC in the situation room, if he can find it, with his Military and Security advisors. not at the Beach.
