January 1, Rail Workers Call Out Biden: “Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing”

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1955: Rosa Parks is arrested for refusing to move to the back of a bus and give her seat to a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama.

Railroad workers are calling out President Joe Biden — who has declared himself the “most pro-union president in American history” — for attempting to prevent them from going on strike.

On Monday, Biden urged Congress “to pass legislation immediately to adopt the Tentative Agreement between railroad workers and operators – without any modifications or delay – to avert a potentially crippling national rail shutdown.”

The White House helped broker the tentative railway labor agreement in September. However, multiple unions have rejected the agreement because it failed to address their most significant concerns: paid time off and sick leave. Four out of 12 rail unions have rejected the contract — including the largest union, the SMART Transportation Division, which represents about 28,000 conductors.

All 12 unions have agreed to not cross picket lines, meaning that all 12 would have to agree to the contract in order to avoid a strike. Rail workers will begin their strike on Dec. 9 if an agreement is not reached by then, or if Congress doesn’t intervene.

After Biden called on Congress to prevent rail workers from striking, unions have accused Biden of betrayal.

“The Tentative Agreements that the majority of union members had voted down are now being touted by President Biden, despite that none of them contain any sick time whatsoever,” said Gabe Christenson of Railroad Workers United.

“The ‘most labor-friendly President in history’ has proven that he and the Democratic Party are not the friends of labor they have touted themselves to be,” he continued. “These wolves in sheep’s clothing have for decades been in bed with corporate America and have allowed them to continue chipping away at the American middle class and organized labor.”

The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division issued a statement saying: “It is not enough to ‘share workers’ concerns.’  A call to Congress to act immediately to pass legislation that adopts tentative agreements that exclude paid sick leave ignores the Railroad Workers’ concerns. It both denies Railroad Workers their right to strike while also denying them of the benefit they would likely otherwise obtain if they were not denied their right to strike.”

The Biden administration doubled down on its stance on Tuesday, with White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre telling reporters that “a rail strike would be unacceptable.”

Sick time etc. should be offered within reason. It is in many other businesses. Let them have it within reason. With all the other things that are making life difficult for the American people to live , inflation, empty shelves etc. a rail strike would just add to their difficulties., especially this time of year.

Unfortunately we only hear what they want, not what they have. Just stating we have no payed sick time does not tell anyone anything. In Most large union, members have better salaries and benefits than non union members. Just bc you demand something does not mean you deserve it. And of course politicians are going to back the people not the corporations. Corporations have been demonized by all politicians for years.

I’m not a big union supporter, but in this instance, I want to see them strike. I don’t care if my Christmas presents don’t get delivered on time. Biden only stuck his nose into the negotiations in September to garnish midterm votes. Now, the union members have seen what a liar he is and how he never had their backs which is how liberals treat all Americans. Union boys and girls, make biden pay.

Union members are almost totally Democrats. Democrat leaders count on their ow info followers having short memories. Union members forgot a key part of Obamacare was the “Cadillac Tax” on union members (far better than average) healthcare plans. But blindly faithful to the Democrat Party, they assumed they would not be betrayed this time. Just like in here in Colorado Springs The owners of two companies that manufactured medical devices were very proud of campaigning for Obama in 2008. They were all over the local media. By 2012, both companies went bankrupt because of the Obamacare tax on medical devices. Several hundred employees lost their jobs. While this was happening, the same two idiots were loudly working for Obama’s re-election, and donating to it.

Where was Mayor Pete??? He was appointed Transportation Secretary so why should Biden be involved? The problem with this administration getting anything resolved is because Biden doesn’t appointment department heads based on thier experience or compentence. It seems Biden hires based on race and sexual preference.

Feel so much better reading these responses! With the press so dominantly obtuse with the REAL TRUTH and not the manufactured “canned Biden Bullshit ! It is so sad to try to read the press knowing it is just “playing you”
Those of us who had “real good old fashioned education” and not Biden enhanced nonsense, which appears to bring out all the “give, give, give” and not work work work people, spineless and demanding because of years sitting around watching the working people advance and improve their lot, now in biden time, their feelings of outrage any excuse
to finally take, take, take from a hapless mindless questionably elected to behave like Hitler’s spawn. expousing hate and eating ice cream as he bewilderedly tries to navigate his surroundings. Dear God how did this happen?

Biden and his administration doesn’t care about the American people he’s only worried about how it affects him. He will go down in history as the worse President ever.
