January 1, Arizona Follows Texas’ Lead, Starts Busing Migrants to DC

Arizona borrowed a page from Texas’ book and started busing migrants to Washington, D.C., protesting the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

The bus arrived in D.C. earlier this week with 20 migrants who volunteered for the trip.

“Our communities are strapped,” said C.J. Karamargin, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey’s press aide.

“They are taxing the resources, stretching the resources of nongovernmental organizations, community-based organizations,’’ he said. “And this situation will only get worse if Title 42 is lifted. … We decided to step up and help alleviate the burden on our NGOs and get these folks closer to where they ultimately want to be.”

Karamargin emphasized that no one is being forced to make the trip, and they are free to exit the bus at any point.

Once they arrive in Washington, he said, they’ll be received by other nongovernmental organizations “that can help them get to their ultimate destinations.”

I am a white US citizen and may want to retire to Arizona or Texas. Will these states pick me up and provide the same services to me, in case I want to live there?
