It’s no secret that Americans are enduring record-breaking inflation, with food prices being one of the things impacted most. Here are the five groceries with the largest 12-month price hike, according to data from the USDA and Bureau of Labor Statistics.

5. Chicken

Prices of chicken parts, including drum sticks, thighs, and breasts, increased 15.1%.

4. Margarine and peanut butter

The price of both margarine and peanut butter jumped 15.8%.

3. Bacon

Bacon prices spiked a whopping 18.2% in the last 12 months. Breakfast sausages also increased significantly in that time — 16.5%.

2. Citrus fruits

Citrus, including lemons, limes, and grapefruits, soared 19.5%. Oranges and tangerines rose 18.3%.

1. Beef and veal

Prices of raw beef and veal saw the biggest increase in grocery stores, with a 20.4% increase in the past 12 months.
