North Korea successfully test-launched its most powerful intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) yet, complete with video footage reminiscent of Top Gun.

The country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, personally authorized the launch, donning a leather jacket and sunglasses. A stylized, Hollywood blockbuster-esque video segment aired at least twice on Friday afternoon.

“According to respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, this was another miraculous victory for the safety of our motherland and eternal well-being of all descendants, despite all kinds of difficulties and hardships,” the announcer said.

The launch marked the country’s first full ICBM test since 2017, immediately prompting outcry from neighbors South Korea and Japan, and the Biden administration, who imposed new sanctions.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki called the launch a “brazen violation” of U.N. Security Council resolutions and urged Pyongyang to discontinue its actions.

“The United States will take all necessary measures to ensure the security of the American homeland and Republic of Korea and Japanese allies,” Psaki said.
