January 1, 5 Charged With Voter Fraud in Wisconsin

A Wisconsin district attorney has charged five individuals with election fraud.

Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney (R) charged the individuals on Thursday, noting that they failed to disclose their home address properly.

All five voters, including a homeless person, improperly listed a post office box number at a UPS store as their address.

According to Toney, Wisconsin law dictates that a residential address is required to vote.

Toney said he hoped the charges would educate voters about the requirements under state law. When asked if the situation would fuel claims of widespread election fraud, Toney said that was not his intent.

“It is clear that would have had no impact on any election results about who would have won the race,” Toney said.

“It has nothing to do with that type of argument.”

According to the complaint, one of the people charged indicated she had voted for former President Donald Trump and urged investigators to look into cheating because “they took it away from Trump.”

The five people were charged with a Class I felony, punishable by up to three and a half years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
