Wyatt’s Take

  • RFK Jr. ordered a probe into offshore wind harms but work stopped by the government shutdown.
  • Experts say wind farms may threaten marine life, hurt fishermen, and waste taxpayer money.
  • Trump’s team is highlighting security and reliability risks in Biden’s favored green energy projects.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told staff at the CDC to look into how offshore wind farms impact fishing, but that work has stopped because of the government shutdown. The shutdown, led by Democrats, has left many important government projects paused.

The Trump administration is going after offshore wind projects, saying they could be dangerous for energy reliability and for America’s security. Some scientists, fishermen, and environmentalists say these wind farms hurt the ocean’s ecosystem and their livelihoods.

“NEFSA welcomes the administration’s decision to study the potential harm of offshore wind. Our offshore wind research summary shows clear evidence that electromagnetic fields from undersea power cables stunt lobster larvae and compromise swimming abilities,”

Dustin Delano of NEFSA said.

“These effects could have devastating consequences for lobster populations and the lobster fisheries that sustain coastal communities across New England. It’s deeply concerning that offshore wind proponents continue to claim these cables are harmless when science suggests otherwise.”

“Ignoring these impacts risks long-term damage to the ocean ecosystem and the livelihoods that depend on it.”

Frank Lassee, from Truth in Energy and Climate, said,

“It is high time for an honest assessment of offshore wind’s harms — ignored in the Biden green ideology above all else rush to build. Evidence shows undersea cables’ EMF and heat damage fishing, lobster, and crustacean populations.”

“They create submarine hideouts, endangering national security near sensitive sites, and mega towers interfere with Air Force bases. Dead whales have surged ashore since construction began.”

“With less than 50% electricity production, these turbines replace no coal, gas, or nuclear plants. They are just colossal wastes of taxpayer money.”

Craig Rucker of CFACT said,

“I applaud Secretary Kennedy for directing the CDC to check out the real harms offshore wind farms are dishing out to our whales, fishermen, and coastal communities. This gutsy move puts science ahead of radical green agendas that threaten American jobs and wildlife, and it will save ratepayers from having to dole out boatloads of dollars for expensive, unreliable energy.”

With the report on ice, questions remain about how offshore wind fits into America’s future. Stay tuned for more updates as the government gridlock continues.

Wyatt Matters

Middle Americans care about strong jobs, healthy oceans, and honest answers from their leaders. When Washington gridlock blocks real investigations that could affect our paychecks and way of life, folks everywhere have a reason to pay attention, and we need leadership that puts our communities above green energy experiments and political games.
