In a sea of self-pity and guilt, there emerges a beacon of hope. Senator Tim Scott, a man not willing to bow to the narrative of victimhood, recently announced his candidacy for president.

No stranger to hard labor and humble beginnings, he stands as a testament to the unyielding spirit of America – the same spirit that we’ve seen eroding under the pressure of big corporations and overseas labor markets.

Scott’s roots are buried deep in the cotton fields, where his family toiled generation after generation, until, as he eloquently put it, they went “from cotton to Congress”. His grandfather’s faith in God, in himself, and in the grand idea of America, was unwavering. In an era when cynicism might seem justifiable, Scott chooses a path of optimism.

Indeed, there is no denying the dark chapters that are imprinted in the annals of American history. But dwelling in the past, wallowing in a mentality of victimhood, only keeps us chained to these injustices. It turns us into puppets, danced around by the puppeteers of the narrative, those who profit from maintaining a populace downtrodden and waiting to be saved.

But Tim Scott, true to his message of unity and progress, does not capitulate to this narrative. He knows that his race, though a defining part of who he is, should not overshadow his legislative agenda or the concerns of the American people. The unifying ideal, the promise of America, extends beyond the color of one’s skin. It is founded in meritocracy, in the belief that hard work, persistence, and determination are the pathways to progress. This, I reckon, is a principle close to the heart of every true American.

While some might see him as a sore thumb in the sea of the Republican party, Scott stands out for his courage, his resoluteness, and his unwavering faith in the American dream. He recognizes that the path ahead won’t be devoid of slander or racial abuse, especially from certain corners of the media. Who can forget when the leftist media called Larry Elder “the Black face of white supremacy“. There are no more vicious and insultingly racist comments than those reserved for Black Americans who dare to call themselves conservative Christians.

Yet, Scott remains unshaken. He is a victor, ready to forge on, continuing his family’s legacy, and steadfast in his belief that our great nation still has a lot to offer.

As an old cowboy who’s seen the decline of my own beloved town, the rise of Scott resonates with me. It echoes the voices of those who still believe in hard work, meritocracy, and the idea that being an American means something. It means not giving up in the face of adversity. It means holding on to hope even when things look bleak. This is the spirit that makes America great. This is the spirit that we need more of in our politics. I am fully aware that Trump is the man right now, but let’s not forget that the republican party needs more than one man fighting for American values, we need an army. I for one am proud to see Sen. Scott stepping up to the plate.
