  • Conservatives blame heated rhetoric for rising violence
  • Many say the left uses these terms to target the right

Hillary Clinton stirred up strong reactions after sharing support for a new book by Randi Weingarten, which accuses political opponents of acting like “fascists.” Clinton posted a photo with Weingarten’s book and said, “Congratulations to my friend [Weingarten] on ‘Why Fascists Fear Teachers.’ From banning books to controlling curriculum, authoritarians go after public education because it’s a cornerstone of democracy.”

The book claims attacks on teachers and schools are tactics used by fascist groups. It argues that teachers are targeted by those who want to control what young people learn.

Conservatives responded strongly, linking this kind of talk to the recent murder of Charlie Kirk. Republican communicator Matt Whitlock said,

“It’s been one week since Charlie Kirk was murdered by a lunatic who wrote about ‘fascists’ on shell casings.”

Corey DeAngelis commented,

“Hillary Clinton and Randi Weingarten are going full speed ahead with this disgusting rhetoric right after Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Sick people.”

Other critics argued that calling Republicans “fascists” fuels dangerous divisions in the country. They believe this language crosses the line and puts people in harm’s way.

The Republican National Committee account posted, “Democrats Hillary Clinton and Randi Weingarten are still suggesting Republicans are ‘fascists.’ They really can’t help themselves, can they?”

Weingarten defended the book, stating, “If they did they’d discover it’s a love letter to teachers.” She claimed the work is meant to uplift educators, not attack political foes.

Some conservatives see these attacks as part of a coordinated smear campaign against the right, especially following tragic events. Many are concerned about the impact on public debate and safety.
